My brother Pat, OutbackBob, and I went to Chris AKA "Pennhawk"s house over the weekend to learn how to run a forge. Not only did we have a great time, and eat some great food but I'm pretty sure he got me started on another life long addiction! Here's a couple pictures of my first rail road spike hawk and file knife....I still need to glue up a handle for the knife. Hopefully bob will add some more pictures..... Thanks again Chris ! I'm already gathering materials to make my own forge!

Looks cool Ryan. I do blades now and then, but have never tried a hawk. What kind of forge are you planning on gas, or charcoal?

Keenan, I have to admit this one was heavily influenced by Chris. I tried my best to copy one he had already made.

Recurve shooter, that's exactly what my wife said. She asked if I was planning on killing her.....lol.  ::)

i had a gas forge years ago and i wish i would have never sold it.  there's nothing like beating on a red hot piece of steel, except maybe working some osage or cane.  chris forged me a hawk and i can't wait to get it.

Ryan I've found my hawk, I didn't make it I got it off one of the Clout shoot prize tables at MoJam, is particularly good for cutting out the stringers while splitting osage, etc.  Seems like it works bettern a hatchet with it's long skinny blade.  That knife blank looks excellent.  No pin holes?
