Would Mahogany make a good backing or a good belly wood. Or neither?

What little bit of mahogany I've worked with seems to be pretty light and soft. Might make a bow, but it would probably be pretty expensive mediocre bow wood.

Most Mahogany's too brittle, I tried it once as a decorative core wood sandwiched between two strips of ash and that made an extremely light bow, but I wouldn't recommend it for a backing or belly
