Hello i am Colton i am a new guy here on Primitive Archer. I just finished my first bow and wanted to share my pictures. This is my second attempt at making a bow and have only been at it for a few months. I have been working on the weekends with my friend Jon (straightarrow). I am really enjoying bow building and feel this will be a lifetime obsession. My first attempt was a 70'' hickory, but broke when attempting to flip the tips. Its now fifty six inches and is still a possible shooter. After the break, my second attempt was this osage in the picture below. It is 61 3/4 inch long and is 25# at 28''. There was a knot that challenged me right off the bat, which caused me to miss my target weight. As you can see the upper limb has alot of character, which was also a tillering challenge. The stave started with four inches of reflex, and the bow ended up with no set. The tips are brazilian cherry, the grip is dyed buck skin, the rest is leather, and the string is b-50 with beaver balls. The sinew wrap is on there for added protection because of a knot. I have shot it about 100 times and it shoots great. I am making some light spined arrows for it now. Even though it is light in weight i am very proud, and think it is going to be a great bow to help me practice my form. Please feel free to comment.
