question? can you make a bow out of post oak i have a few trees that look like they arnt going to bloom this year and if they dont well they are going to get cut and split for staves i will post pics soon of the trees ttyl   sterling

sure you can make a bow out any tree,,post you can make one it needs to be long,,,wide carry the width for 3/4 of limb length,,and low poundage,,,,but there is lots of osage in tx  mike

Post oak is in the white oak family so should work very well for a bow. Has around a .67 SG. The wood is highly rot resistant and was used for fence posts, hence the name. Figuring it was used similar to osage and black locust, I'd say give it a go, should work out well.
