Rawhide Backed Osage
« on: March 10, 2010, 05:40:52 pm »
Made this one to start working my shoulder and in the process hopefully lengthen my draw length.
Osage, deer rawhide backed as the stave had very thin rings and I got sloppy chasing them :o
40#@ 28" with buffalo horn tips, stained the whole bow with mahogany leather dye and some black dabbed on the back.
Cut in shelf and a very minimal grip, shoots nice and at 40# it allows me to work on rehabing my shoulder and concentrate on my form.

Very Nice Osage bow Dana!  I can't wait to see this one at the Classic in person.  ...And since it is 28" draw I can "test shoot" it right?   :) :)

I especially like the mahogany color.

Great looking bow Dana!  I have a request.  I'm looking to build my first bow with an arrow shelf.  Do you have a picture of the front view (back of the bow) of the handle and shelf are that you could post?  I'm especially interested in how you blend the fades into the shelf area both on the shelf side and the opposite side of the bow. Thanks.

Very nice Dana, tiller looks right on.  The unbraced profile looks really good to.
