A good pipe
« on: March 07, 2010, 10:00:06 pm »
I just glance over to my old tobacco pipes on my desk and wonder, does any of the talented people on here make pipes?  If so I'd love to see them.

i made one out of deer antler and used a piece of sapling for the stem. split down the center, tough to do, and then carved the pulp inside, out and wrapped it back into one piece. its only a ceremonial pipe, not daily use, plus i dont smoke. i use it on prayers.

Ever make a "pipe" from a soda can? :)

I have always wanted to try out pipe making....the legit kind. It looks fun, even though I dont smoke a pipe. Anyone have any hints about types of wood for the bowl, stem, etc?

Dane, Mountain Laurel(Kalmia latifolia) root supposedly make an excellent pipe bowl next only to Merchem (sp) a European plant burl. We have tons of Mt Laurel around here.
