handle thickness

will a thinner handle add more working limb to a bow,,seems to me say take a 66in bow with a 1 3/4 thick handle, thin it to 1 1/4  you will gain more workable limb with out the handle bending, as your taper at the fades will move in toward the center of bow,,it will take less limb to taper handle in to fade,,? I have been making some blanks with 4in handle 1 in fade and 1 1/4 thick handle,,or have I just been working to much, these 18 20 days making blanks are getting to me

That hasn't been my experience. On shorter staves I shorten the fade area to 1.5 in. I usually mark the end of the fades and work to get the handle bending there. However, I've made them to bend into the handle and the fades. It kind of all depends on handle thickness and width and the type of wood.
