Any VN Veterans out there ? This is for you. It's one of my Medicine Shield painting series. I gave this one to a friend, he wears three Purple Hearts. Thats M-16 brass scalplocks across the center and .50 cal brass scalplocks on each side.

Sad to say, but VN vets are getting scarcer by the day.  We all watched the "family men" of our childhoods, the WWII vets go from "everybody" to being real rare today......at least all of us who were fighting age during the VN era.  Now, the young men of '68 are gray haired grandpas mostly, at least the ones who have made it this long.

I raise my glass to you men.  You did your best.

Great example of hand work, Grunt.  Your old buddies would approve.

Cheers, piper

Yea, we are rapidly approaching "geezer"stage in our current society. In NA circles we would be a knowledge resource know as  "elders"
Go figure.

I am from the VN era(born in 1950) but I am not a vet. My brother served in VN in1969 with Air Force Black Berets. We have discussed each of our positions and respect each others choices. I am the only person he will talk to about his experiences in VN and I feel honored he will open up to me.   I do have all the respect and gratification to any and all who have served our country and will fight to see that all vets are treated with the respect they deserve.
Grunt, Your shields are worthy of any warrior!!! Nice work.

Retired Navy. Did not do any time in country and have all the respect in the world for the guys that did. I was on duty in the Philippines the night they cut the undersea cable and we lost communications. Grunt, your shield looks awesome!

Two Tours:

D Troop 3/5 Cav.  (The Bastard Cav)  1967-68

Longknife 23  Slick Driver

L.R.R.P. pickup near the Cambodian border (Fall 1967)

Some days were worse than others.... Lost my pilot..

334th Aerial Weapons Company  1971-72  (The Playboys)

Did some serious shooting in a Snake.

Now I'm just a broken up, ex-helicopter pilot, disabled Vet who still likes archery.

It's a M-14 with a selector and the buttplate has a hinged plate. I rigged a jungle sling so the rifle was at the ready. I was auto rifle man of our fireteam. Three round bursts and you are pointing at the sky.
