Why did you skin the gator from the belly up, instead of up along the edge of the back?  did you just want it for a wall hanger?  The belly hide and the throat skin is the valuable part of the hide.  Even the legs.  But again, you cut the the top of the legs, not the bottom.
I don't know what gator hides are going for now, but if you were to skin it to sell it, you would not skin it from the belly up. ;)  But if you just want it for a wall hanger, that's fine.  I am not sure, but I think you had a blast?  food's not bad there is it. ;)  Were you going to try an atlatal on one of those gators, or were you going to try for a hog?  Like I said before in the other post, you should stuff one of those gators, and wait till the creek is running well, and everyone is standing around, it, and ease that stuffed gator into the creek, and watch the people scatter! ;D ;D ;D
Glad you got to come down, and have fun.  Too bad you didn't get any hogs.

First Gator ??? :-\ just dressed it like I would a deer, ant selling it anyway. Not sure what I will do with it. I am going to European mount one of the heads but other than that not sure.Belly and throat hide will be saved for grips and such. :) Yes it was a good time. Love to do it again someday. :) :) Friday and back to normal, heading to the cabin to work on some hunting gear. ;) :)We have a tournament tomorrow and then the Bash Saturday night so it should be a great weekend :).The weather is supposed to be beautiful,no rain and highs in the mid 70's so I am loving that.
Hope yall have a good one. Life is Good. ;) :)

Ok thanks, that explains it. ;)  Didn't Eddie say anything? :o ???, well it will make a great wall mount, and like you said some nice grips.  Sounds like you left, one great time to have another one!  So what did Miss Joanie think of gator meat?  Yeah, the European mount will be cool!  Make a great coffee table display.  In fact you could put a cookie bowl in the lower jaw, and tell people to help themselves. ;) ::) :P ;D ;D  I am sure you did not lack for good food at Eddie's. ;) 8)  I want to see pictures of you stretching those hides! :o ;D ;D ;D

Great weekend, good shoot and the Gator meat at the Bash went over very good,it was tasty. I did manage to get a little shooting in and 2 more sour wood shafts tuned and ready for flint heads. The party Saturday nigh was good also.Lots of food and lots of old friends. Here are some pictures of the fun.Joe these first ones are for you. Feather grinder. ;) ;D ;D You clamp in in the jig,it has light sand paper inside to keep it from slipping, then the sanding wheel goes in the drill press.
