Got my 2 hides out of the brains for the 3rd time, racked and stretched good and ready for the brain another couple of times. Then a good supper of fried fish from Rocky, perch I think  :) :) Next morning the work around the place started, I need to rebuild the top on one of the tables, got it taken apart, now waiting on wood.  :)

Back strap for lunch, you can always tell spring is near when the butter cups start blooming.  :) I picked Miss Joanie a few for brownie point I very mush need most of the time.  :) :) Had Eric's friend Jackson drop by with a yew stave for a friend on mine, it was a really nice stave for sure, I am sure Gill will be proud Eric. Jackson was a great guy also and wound up spending the evening, he lives pretty close and I am sure he will be back for some more visits.  :) :)

Finely got back to my hides Saturday evening, got them all brained and about half stretched cabled and dried, they are beginning to look a lot like leather, ;) :) just rolled them up in a bag and will work on them this week. Had 4 back strap left so decided to just fry them up for supper after a long day. Hope yall had a good one also. Life is Good. :)

Had a short but busy weekend, had to come home to go to a good friends funeral today but managed to get all the things done i had planed Thursday and Friday. Got the new top on the table that set by the practice bails, also the compressor went out on or air compressor so I got that replaced and back up and running. Spent some time on the trophy arrows, got all the points mounted/stained and feather split and ground, now just need to fletch and mount to plaques.  :)

Thought I had lost one of the stone points so made one from the inner bone of a cow horn, turned out pretty good but found the lost one so didn't need it after all, :) first bone point I had made in a while, fun and may do some more. ;) :)

Went to work on my second hide, it was a large old buck, didn't come out as soft as i wanted, had a couple of hard spots in 1 hip area and middle of the back, so as bad as I hate to I put it back in the brains and started the drying/ softening process over. Brats for lunch.  ;) :) a man has to eat so just well eat good. :)

Hide back in the brains.  ??? Will giving some napping lessons, Bob is just starting but coming along nicely. :) I gifted Will a couple of deer hides that was scrapped and ready to brain tan a couple of weeks ago, as most that know me I don't do a lot of selling or trading , but it seems it always come back to me 3 fold. Will brought me one of his stone knives to go in my collection.

Big hide in and out of the brains 3 more times, Got the rung out and stretched, now to keep that up till it dry, didn't get it finished so just wrapped it a bag and stuck in the freezer, freezing them ones seems to help, will get it out /thaw and see what it looks like this time, soft I hope.  ;) :) Then some time around the fire with my buddies. :)
