Great weekend for the kids. Congrats to both.  :OK
The new pups seems to be fitting right in. Sure is lucky for her coming to Twin Oaks.

Sure do enjoy seeing the young people enjoying their time at Twin Oaks pappy.

Especially when they get to skin and process their animals with some good coaching. I really think it’s part of our sport that should be passed on. Not hidden, but given the respect it deserves for the hunter and the hunted.

I love the funky foot.  I have a femur of a doe that was broken and healed over.  The bone was all wonky and was not put back together like ours would be at the ER.  I use it to show the kids in my college class how nature finds a way to survive.

Pappy,I talked to Chris and Shane and they plan on heading out Friday morning when Chris gets off work, no telling when they'll pull in though. I'll be there Friday sometime after lunch. I-40 is closed at the Tennessee line in NC so I'm gonna have to drive I-75. See you Friday.

Thanks guys, ya the kids enjoy and I try to instill a respect for the animals and not a bunch of blood and guts you see so much of now. You are right Glenn ,I am amazed every time I skin a deer or cape a head how it is all put together, had to be a plan not a big bang and crawled out of the water. ☺️See ya soon Eddie,  now Beau and I are headed to the woods. Had a great week with my buddies, not many deer killed but lets just say everyone had their chance. As always a lot of fun around the fire and some good eating. First night by myself with the girls, they truly love deer season.  ;)

Lots of deer steak and taters over the week, Chris had a fish fillet knife that need a handle,I didn't hunt much so this was a nice little project for me. :) the blade came out of an old saw mill blade. Turned out nice I think and Chris loved it.  :)

More steak on the fire. Shane killed a nice 5 point so had meat to take back to FL. with him. Big A came in with a doe so we had fun skinning and doing some processing.  :)

I spent most of my time just hanging out, helping track deer and working on an old Osage bow, it has lots of weathering cracks in the back that shouldn't hunt anything but decided to rawhide back it. this is the base coat of TB3 and the rawhide cut and ready to put on. Hope yall had a good one also. I am headed back down tomorrow and will be by myself, may get in a little hunting finely if the rain stops, it is warm but getting some much needed rain so I ant complaining. Life is Good. :) :)

I hear ya Eddie , as Miss Joanie says " just wasn't his day to go"  ;) :) Great weekend, got in a little hunting before the much needed rain came in then spent some time in the shop, got a few things done and some good fellowship with friends to boot. Started out putting the rawhide on and Osage blank.  :) I don't use any wraps anymore, I just stay with it working the air and glue out until it dries enough to let it set. I use TB3 so only takes about 30 minutes or so and turns out nice with no air bubbles or curling on the edges.  :)
