Thanks for letting us come down and hangout with you Pappy.  The hunting was secondary.  Enjoyed the couple of days we were there for sure.  Counting the days till we can come back down.  Connor is still on cloud nine. :)

What a great weekend, it was the youth hunt weekend and I always have some kids down, this year had Big A's grand boys, great kids and we had a great time with them. BIG a and Jeremie the boys dad took them out Anthony and I put 3 blinds out Thursday and they worked out just as we planned. I hung around the shop and got some things done until I was needed. :) The girls hung out with me. Dave O's grand son Conner killed a nice deer the week before and had 3 toes so I decided to skin out the leg and save it.  :)

Shawn came down working on a hide and Woody killed a nice fat buck early in the week, I helped him skin and cape it out to be mounted, it was loaded with nice clean fat from feeding on soy beans so I decided to render it down, I done this on a big doe a couple years ago and it turns out nice.  :)

Got 3 1/2 pints, turned white as snow when it cooled, reminds me a lot of bear fat rendered, Then the kids showed up Friday evening Lem and Ben 8 and 12 years old. :)

Got the feet done, pretty cool if you like that kid of stuff as I do.  :)We had a nice meal and some time around the fire Friday night , didn't take Lem long to get the job done Saturday morning, nice 5 point 100lbs, he made a good shot so no trouble to find, he is the 12 year old and this is his 3rd buck down here in 3 years.  :) We let him do the skinning with just a bit of guidance.  ;)

While the kids were out I went to work on Turkey feathers, they had gotten piled up on me and really need my freezer cleaned out and get them organized. not sure how many I got but it's a bunch. Got them all squared away and put up for later use.  :) I have 2 tots of 2nds and 1 of tail feathers I plan on giving to anyone that needs some at the Classic, also 3 big ammo box's of Left and right primaries. :)

Then Saturday evening we hear 2 shots, Ben shot twice he thought at a doe, we found her and he had made a great heart shot, I ask about the first shot and he said he had missed a spike and then shot the doe. He sad the spike didn't move until he shot the 2nd shot at the doe so we figured at 100 yards and he is only 8 that's what happened. He was one happy young man for sure. :)

Had a great evening around the fire with the boys, this was Ben's first deer so now he had a story to tell.  :) Love to listen to the kids tell their stories.  :)

Well went out to pull the blinds Sunday morning and saw some buzzards flying kind of low, figured it was where we had cleaned the doe, but Anthony decided to check just to be sure and low and behold he hadn't missed after all, the deer was fine and was about 50 yards from where the doe died, now he really has a story to tell !!!!!!! and his first buck. :) Great time and good memories. ;) :) :) Life is Good

Good job to the Young Men! Never thought about rendering the Whitetail Fat  (A). Gonna have to try that! Thanks Pappy -  (=) Bob.
