Well....considering I came down with a head cold, SNEEZIN'S GREETINGS!
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.

Came how today to help Miss Joanie get the Christmas stuff down and put away, ;) :) I have had a great few days, mostly by myself , just me and the girls so pretty peaceful, had a few drop by from time to time but most are very busy this time of year with family stuff. I done a lot of hunting and as normal this time of year either seen a bunch or nothing, had a couple close encounters but just couldn't put it all together. ??? :) Did have a lot of time in the shop so got a lot done.Got another big knife started from an old farriers rasp , got my last big hide all scrapped /sanded and ready to tan and also Shawn and I got another fleshing pole started, it's a little bigger than the one I have and should work better, just heaver to deal with so will need to put in a place that it will stay.  :)

Bucky came by for a few hours and I helped him lay out his next Osage bow. I am using one of Beau's Bear leg bones for the new knife handle so decided to whiten it like I do the euro mounts, turned out very nice. :) Had a good friend that was helping a neighbor clean out her garage after her husband passed, had a bunch of racks and thought I could use them, that is very much appreciated, I can always use that kind of stuff.

Got my big hide off the rack, I soak it in warm water to get it soft before putting it in the brains to tan, seems to work out quicker and better that way, also got the bear head skin all oiled down and softened.  :) Got a hat pattern on the way so we will see how that goes. :-\

Done 4 deer feet while I was tanning the bear skin. Got the tapper done on my new blade and also started putting the handle together, it is bear leg bone and cow horn top and bottom. :)

Got the bear stew ready for supper, then a friend that neighbors my farm came over with 4 deer, maybe that's why I ant seeing any  ??? :-\ like I said tough this time of year with a BOW, not so tough with a 30.6  ;) :) :) I told him he was killing off the breeding stock then jumped in and help take care of them, ;) he is a good friend and good neighbor but I do like to rib him a bit from time to time. :)

Got my hide soaked and stretched 3 time and ready for a pre smoke, also while I was doing some tanning I done 2 nice pieces off the main bear hide, planning on a hand warmer and not sure what else.  :-\My girls loving the fire, it was pretty chilly all week. Got my knife handle fitted and glued up. :)

Pre smoked my deer hide, I always pre smoke after about 2 brain soakings, then back in the brains for at least 3 more soakings and ringing/stretching, not sure it is necessary but seems to help. Made a stand for my knife, Osage cut off/deer antler and bear leg bone stop. :)

Made a bow rack from 2 of the deer feet, mounted on a cherry board. Got my hide soaked 4 more times after pre smoke, it is looking good but the weather turned rainy so just wrapped it up in a bag and put in the fridge, will finish stretching till dry in a day or 2 when the weather gets better. That about it for this week, hope yall had a good one also, Happy new years, see ya in 2024 WOW. Life is Good. ;) :) :)
