Had a great weekend, not many pictures , got busy cleaning and getting ready for the Traditional Critter shoot we had Saturday. It turned out good, had 83 shooters and I got time to shoot myself and have to say shooting all little targets was a lot of fun and really made you think about what you was doing. Did get some time to work on a knife and Beau came out Thursday a stayed till late, we had back strap for supper that he grilled to perfection. got a blade ready to heat treat and temper and then went to work on getting the place in shape for guests Saturday. We keep the place looking pretty good all the time but always needs some cleaning before an event.

More clean up and my girls just hanging out. When Beau told me he was coming for supper I got the back strap in the marinate while my blade was in the oven.

He got them all cooked up, I didn't have anything to go with them so we just had steak sandwiches by the fire, don't get much better than that. Got my scales laid out for the blade and another blade ready to tapper, the scales are birds eye maple, beautiful wood.

Dan came by Friday and gifted me a dozen arrows, beautiful all fletched with wild Turkey feathers I had given him a few months back. Got handle material read for a couple more knives and a coat of tru Oil on my newest one. Had a great time Saturday at the shoot but was really busy and tried to work in shooting myself and clean forgot to take pictures, take my word for it, it was a good time. Life is Good.

Thanks Clint, don't do many with scales Mostly do hidden tang but this one turned out OK, this was a piece of 1095 steel GregB gave me and i had no choice, got 1 more piece of it but can get a hidden tang from it, it is in the works right now just deciding on what handle material to use.  leg bone /horn or cactus material.

Great weekend , still very hot and dry but we managed to have some fun just the same, calling for rain every day this week and some cooler, we will See how that goes. Mostly I was doing knife work with a little bow work, shooting and eating thrown in. Trying to decide on the handle for my latest blade, leg bone, elk antler or cactus , I decided to go with the cactus, never done one before but turned out fine, taped it up and filled with epoxy let dry and smoothed it all out, it filled the voids really well.

Laid out another file blade, done some tweaking on my yew bow and some mustard etching on my blade while the epoxy dries in the cactus handle.

Got the handle cleaned up and a stand started, Shawn showed up to show me his sinew bow, it is looking good so far.

Stand and handle sealed , then the crew showed up Saturday for a early club shoot and cook out at noon, about 12 or 15 showed up from the club, always a fun day when we get together.

Tommy is the only one in the club that still shoots a wheel bow, but as you see Sister loves him just the same. Great fun on the course, and it wasn't to hot early morning.

If we can shoot real deer like we did the foam , the deer in Tennessee are in big trouble. Then back to the kitchen to get a great lunch ready.Home made smash burgers/fries and all the fixings for the guys gardens.
