I like this bow - primitive - I can hear the chanting around the fire about this one. Very nice and bookmarked, too!

cool bow! now you will need to make some really neat primitive arrows to go with it. good idea not to let keenan shoot it, might be bad mojo.

I think I'd have to paint my face just to go and practice shooting that bow! Very cool looking.

Great bow. I really like the prim. look of it. You are the man when it comes to dogbane handle wraps. I think I've seen about 4 or so of your bows with them. I've only did it once, and vowed NEVER AGAIN.
Do you have a trick to speed up processing the dogbane? Again, Great bow and handle wrap.

thanks guys..i am really glad people like the look..as for tricks of cording dogbane..the only one i have is to get as LONG of dogbane as you can..i have found out that i all ways have 4inch handle and for a 4inch handle i have to cord 14-141/2 feet of dogbane...it takes 2 days for 2-3 hrs a day of cording...and i get them wet when cording it..thanks john

I love the bow John. And the fact that you hand-braided the handle is impressive. What does the bow pull? I'm looking forward to seeing it in May.

I keep rereading this post, and everytime I look at the pictures I'm more and more impressed. That's some inspiring work!

Blacktail, I have used linen, silk, burlap, and ash as backings, however not the raw hide. How did you like using it compared to other backings? Looks as though it will make a good canvas for artwork. Tough looking little bow.
