Couple of new bows
« on: February 04, 2010, 01:15:17 pm »
Here are a couple of my latest. They are really different critters. The re/de is BBI with a maple power lam. This laminated bow is 66" tip to tip, 1 1/4 at the fades and 5/8 at the tips.It pulls a honest 60# at 28". Learned to give the next bow more de as getting the high string on this beast took some doing. The linen backed red oak is spliced at the handle with a W splice. This one is 1 3/4 at 2" above the fades tapering to 1/2 at the tips. It is long at 70" tip to tip and pulls 47# at 28" but I an shooting it in so I expect it will drop a bit. The linen oak follows the string about 1" and shoots sweetly. They both shoot nice but this 63 year old is only pulling the re/de about 26"

Great looking bows Grunt! I really like the BBI.

It doesn't matter how or what you shoot, as long as you hit your target.

Nice looking bows, Grunt. The R/D looks very nice but I'm a sucker for a good ole straight limb selfbow!  Well done.

If it doesn't rap the lintel, it might not be a longbow.
