Selfbow workshop revisit

More rain in the south, and another day trapped in the hotel room. Thought I would post pictures of the Osage Self Bow that I made at the self bow workshop that Ryan and Pat O'Sullivan held last August. The workshop was an excellent time, and met a bunch of great folks there too. What a great way to shrink the learning curve, seeing so many bows bend.

Appreciate the kind words gentleman. We drew lots on our staves at the beginning of the workshop. Many of the bowbuilding issues we face were covered. Layout, twist, snaky wood, knots, floor tillering, tillering, shoot in, etc...  It was a great leaning experience, to see how different obstacles were dealt with. Ten students, and ten completed bows. I hope some of the folks that attended will post their bows as well.

David, I wish all my students had picked up on everything as well as you did. I'm just glad to see your continuing your interest in bow making and puting what you learned to good use! Thanks Again for the nice coments.  ;D

Aero86, how close to Oklahoma are you? I think OJam is just around the corner. You could find help there, I'd be willing to bet. I've worked in Texas several times. Dallas, Houston, & Midland/Odessa.

Ya, Dave were going to eventualy. Just haven't set a date. Gona make the long drive up again? You should come up for our shoot in May. You might catch a ride with Pappy's group...... ;D

Ryan, that was a long drive, but well worth the trip. As far as May goes, I have talked to my wife about it, and if I can sell her on it, we just might make it. She is not fond of tenting out, and I am not fond of pulling the camper that far. Currently building her a bow to use at Tannehill. It is pretty much done, needing final sanding and finish. If she enjoys herself at Tannehill, and the ASTB shoot, she might catch the fever and want to go.

Helping my Grandson with a Pecan self bow, The bottom limb is perfect wood, with the top limb gnarly, and knotted. The kind of wood that went in the fire before attending your selfbow workshop.

Have you been building anymore of those fine bows, like what you and Pat had on display?
