What's your secret to gettin' 'em so uniform and reducing the nodes? They almost look like carbon shafts, they're so straight!

Belt Sander ;)

I sand the nodes down on the belt sander, then hand sand with 60, 80,100 grit etc
If I'm staining or painting them I also scrape the rind off before sanding them.

Those are definately very,, VERY nice.

Question though -
Planning on making some and in my research I've noted that "bamboo doesn't hold paint or accept stain well."
What's your secret to success??? (or is that false info I'm hearing?)
