I still have My doubts that this is what caused it....looks like it split from bith Tips to the Center...but then I aint holding it ...so I can only Guess....... ;)

looks to me like it ws overly dry and seperated at the rings
i have a pignut that did that just on the very back layer of wood
mine was just getting first brace when it let loose,took about 8 inches of wood from one limb
just the nicest thinest layer of wood too,it was even translucent
i always wanted a harley,untill it became the "thing to ride"
i ride because i love to,not to be part of the crowd
