Rawhide backed ERC
« on: January 30, 2010, 08:56:22 pm »
This is my first ERC bow, I got the stave from Shannon at last years classic, I roughed it out and decided to rawhide back it to ensure survival. Patb was extremely generous and sent me the rawhide(Thanks Pat) Specs are 62in, 55# leather wrap for nocks, jute and suede leather handle(goodwill belt) stacked leather rest and sinew bow string.
Hope you like it, the wood sure is pretty and smells like my parents cedar closet in their house. I simply painted the back with earth tones since it was white.

Nice to know I am not the only one to shoot turkeys out the kitchen window.  *grin*

That is a fine looking bow, awesome design for that wood!  I would love to try some ERC. (hint hint everyone, Christmas is coming again)

cool bow !

How wide is it at the grip ?? I've been wanting to build one quite like that, only sinew backed...just hadn't been able to make up my mind how wide I should make it.

That is some beautiful wood - and you did it justice VB !!! Sweet arc on the draw - that's what a bow is supposed to bend like !!!
I'd love to get a piece of that to work on - is it native to NY ?? Great work !!!
