how to add a strike plate
« on: May 20, 2013, 02:38:53 pm »
here is a step by step guide on how to inlay a strike plate.

start by marking around your strike plate then use a chizel to carefully remove wood from inside the line.

keep checking to see how the inlay fit's

fill the hole with some 5 min epoxy

then push the inlay into the hole.

then wrap it with tape, you could also use some string.

once dry remove tape/string and sand it with some 180 grit sandpaper until it is level with the wood. then rub it with some wire wool and add a polish.

That looks great!  I noticed the blue under your leather grip.  Is that another piece of leather underneath?  I like the contrast.
