Looking for a "character." (all set)
« on: January 29, 2010, 03:05:21 pm »
Been thinking of getting a "character" bow for some time because I just love the looks of them. But have no clue where to look.
I know, before you say it,,, I'm not smart or skilled enough to make one.
Hoping someone could point in the right direction for a seeker.
Trying to narrow things down a bit,
I am thinking Osage (not actually cast in stone). Generally in the 50-55# range would seem about right for me. I'm 6'3" and need a 29" draw or just a bit better. RH shooter that has shot "Trad." almost exclusively for about 20+ yrs. I'm shooting instinctively with 2 under and always shot off the shelf,,, but thinking of getting rid of the shelf for this bow (probably wise anyways?).

I've found a few that will make to order,,, but how can you visualise the outcome before agreement has kept me on the fence thus far.
Maybe, I'm talking used? I'm open to that also.

I'd be picking this for a "fun" bow. While I may hunt, shoot some local 3-D, maybe even do a indoor league from time to time. but the main intent is simply shooting for my own enjoyment, non-competitively.

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks,
Gary

I'm sure someone will have something you will like. You could also try posting this in the trading post section.
Its November, I'm gone hunt'in.......
Osage is still better.....

Been there and checked it all out fairly well from the surface without getting too much into it.
I'd much prefer the "mom / pop" outfit if I could. (or the one that is more hobby oriented - not so much perfectionistic. Crude but effective is awsome ).

If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?

Mullet / Ryan-
Thanks, done.

Ryano-
Didn't see any self bows with character offered by those vendors. All laminates and "traditional" in design. I'm thinking more primative.
