"Sticky" Ipe bow Done - Pics

Well, I got to add the arrow rest - graduated leather strips, and wrap the handle with 1/8" leather lace. I opted for a Hill style grip.
In order to get pics up here, I had to compromise detailed shots. I wish I was more computer / camera saavy !! All in all, the bow performs well. Very light mass wise, although the Ash is a bit on the thick side for a backing. It is my first experience with Ipe, and I
learned a lot!! I'm going to make some Hickory backing strips, and may try a Bamboo backing at some point. 70" ntn and draws an honest 65#@ 27".

looks really good. Bending nicely.  Ipe doesnt mind having a thick backing like that and I think it can actually help bring the mass down. As long as its not so thin that it frets you should be good.

I forgot to add - shot at least 200 arrows this afternoon - my shoulder knows it !! Ended up with an inch of follow (set??), and no frets or funny stuff yet. Looking forward to starting number 2 !!

i'm a huge fan of thick backings on ipe.
looks like it'll launch a heavy arrow with some authority!

A very nice bow, the contrast between the ash and the Ipe is great.
And from my experience Ipe like thicker backings from ash or hickory.

Your bow looks real good Barebo. I really like the look of the Ash.  Thicker backings with Ipe will become much more common on these bows once folks catch on. I know a few of these guys have figured out a favorite trick of mine..and you have too!

Good job. I think there is a good partnership between ash and Ipe. I backed my last hickory bow with ash:
