Bamboo back bamboo belly...(WITH FULL DRAW PIC)
« on: February 26, 2007, 04:05:39 pm »
Just about done with this one. Bamboo back with an osage core that has a thin redheart stripe in it and a bamboo belly. Redheart underlays and sheep hoof, red heart, and yew tip overlays. Yew and redheart handle. The bamboo back is covered with rattlesnake skins. 64" long, 56# at 28". Made this one for a guy who posts over on another site. Almost going to be hard to send this one off. A darn good bow.

Dan

That is pretty.  Does the boo taper away at the fades?   How about at the tips were the redheart starts.  Justin

Thanks!

If you look you can see that the bamboo on the belly tapers into nothing in the fades. At the tips I belt sanded through the bamboo and into the osage a bit before I glued on the redheart, so it laps over the last 1" of the bamboo and onto the osage core.

That is what it looked like, I just wanted to make sure.  Is the boo at the fades tapered from the inside (belly) and the outside (back) of the piece?  Did you pre-tiller each piece?  Justin

Thanks!

She shoots great...sweet in the hand and packs a real wallop!

The bamboo is tapered from the outside of the piece in the fades...it cuts through the power fibers but it's in a non bending area so it doesn't matter... Ya, I definitely pre tiller each piece. I just held them in my hand and flexed them though...
