Tillering for three under shooting
« on: January 03, 2010, 10:25:05 pm »
I started making self bows and I shoot with three fingers under.  The first three bows I made, I had the top limb 1/4 inch weaker than the bottom.  It seemed that I then needed to set my nocking point around 3/4 of an inch from the arrow shelf to have good arrow flight.  Do I need to tiller my limbs different for three under shooting?

not sure your exact meaning here, but most guys tiller their bows with a stiffer lower limb. like 1/8 to 1/4 inch.

I do make the lower limb 1/4 inch stiffer than the top.  From dead center, I go up one inch for the arrow rest.

I shoot three under as well.  I tiller the bottom about 1/8" stiffer at brace.   That number varies on how the bow looks as it is being drawn.
