Quick Release for a Bandsaw Fence

I use my bandsaw for everything from cutting frozen salmon to resawing lumber.
I especially need it to cut strips for bow laminations.
I never had a good fence before this idea out October, 2009 isssue of WOOD magazine.
Works really well. The clamp is easily removed and the fixed jaw re-attached to the tool for standard clamping.
The far end piece is a cleat that hangs down the backedge of the table.
Everything made from scraps.

nice work.

it seems these days they make a jig and a tool for everything. to think i could have paid attention when older folks tried to show me how to do things right, it wouldn't have taken me as long to learn what i have.

my saw came with a quick release fence. it is probably the saw's only reliable feature :D

   Don, I have a fence for my bandsaw but never use it for resawing thin strips because most bandsaws have a certain amount of run out. I use a V with the point right next to the blade. I move the point of the V away from the blade just the thickness of the lam I am cutting. It is very rare that I feed the board through straight, it is almost always a slight angle depending on the grain of the wood. If I do find I can push it through straight I switch to my fence. Fot a v I usually just use a 2X4 and lay it on my saw table at an angle so one of the corners is closest to the blade, then clamp it down. Steve
