Long Elm self bow

Hi guys- Just finished; 71" n/n, 45#, cedar elm (S. Texas) with huisache nock overlays and huisache bark stain. Stave had some bad knots in one limb making tillering tough, so I just called it good. The stave also had narrow tips due to uneven splitting, so I narrowed them and made 'em stiff. The release is silk smooth.  Merry Christmas, Tom

Another shot. I didn't try actual Holmeguaard but used the idea to narrow and stiffen the tips.

Very very nice....that style bow is this old mans favorite (well it's up there) for exactly what you said, they are smooth, yours looks like it was "born" to fly some arrows....very very nice

Nice looking bow, you did a great job on the tiller with such a knot in it! The handle looks real nice, I like the way it fits up the side of the fades.

Actually Medicine, I'm a bit embarrassed by the handle due to the fact that I only had a small piece of finished leather in the garage. It didn't quite wrap around as it should have. Just need to soak the leather in water and stretch it real good when you sew it,

That's a great looking bow from a tough piece of wood !! What are the dimensions at the transition from wide to narrow ??
I always wanted to try one in that style, and it's going to be a Long winter. Would Hard Maple work ?? Nice Job !!!
