I need some help to ID an old longbow
« on: December 06, 2009, 11:29:30 am »
I recently aquired a very old longbow. Looks like what was called bulletwood (Ipe?)or beefwood (Massaranduba?).  It has a continious concave slot running down the back. It's been burnished and shot many times from the looks of the arrow strike surface wear. The string looks like waxed lined with loop knots intact and extra string that was coiled tightly around the bottom of the bow. I'm hoping someone can help me ID the old thing. It's in great shape. The only real wear is on the bottom tip. Thanks, Steve
