warhawk: around Ft. Hood it was probably some Edwards Plateau or Pederanales stuff. The white outside stuff would have been either cortex or "on the artifacts" Patina, or more or less oxidized outer stone.

Here's the one I got from Wade (n2everything) the other day.  I also got a box of stone as well...Thanks a bunch Wade!  I'm gonna cook it in my kiln and see how it turns out.  Judging by some of the points other people have made of it, I'll bet it will turn out nice.  Anyway, here's the point.

I just came home from hunting this afternoon, been gone since Saturday. Well I had a small Flat Rate box from Curtis, (Piper). Man! what a nice point and all those slabs was unexpected. Thanks, Curtis, it's in my case now. I'll get some pictures of this nice, blue and red streaked, coral? point tomorrow.
