PowerLams. How do they work?

Does anyone out there in the bowmakers world have any close up pics of powerlams???  and maybe someone could explain exactly how they work. I would like to include one on a boo backed bow, my understanding is that they  cause more stress to be glued in next to the fades, when the backing is glued on, !  which, if that part of the limb  is made to do most of the work ( as in a holmguaard), then it should significantly speed up the  bow! but what is the best shape and height I dont know?

search r/d buildalong by wytetail.  tells ya lots about exactly this topic.  Shows exactly how he makes one, what it's for, all that.

I think its purpose is to spread near-handle bending forces all across the back of the handle so that on one spot in a glued-on riser takes the brunt of the energy and becomes a weak spot.

The search  function  on  PA  unfortunately  doesn't  seem  to  work  very  well, 
you  can  however do  better by  using  another  search  engine,  just  include  "Primitive Archer"   in  your  search  and  you  can  still  search in  the  PA  database

The purpose of a powerlam is to stiffen up the handle/fades area so the handle doesn't pop off under strain.
