« on: November 23, 2009, 01:03:56 am »
Heres what im working on currently. I reflexed the limbs with dry heat while it was green. I used a tree to bend it into shape by putting it between the limbs... The stave was a little crooked and of tho the side a little i tried correcting it but didnt have much luck..

Wow :o! What a recurve! What kind of wood is that?
When you come upon a track or trail you do not know, follow it to the point of knowing.

Hey guys... Well I have no idea what wood it is, I went and cut it from a stream. there was oaks and then a few other trees, I bet its a white wood. i thought it was maple because of the leaf but the leaf was small. I think I can make a bow with it the only thing im concerned about is if it will hold, I might add a rawhide backing just to make sure. Ill post more pics in about 2 -3 weeks. Yea I went a little over on the reflex because i dont like string follow.

The only thing with that much reflex is you really have to be careful not to get it to light,it will really trick you into thinking it is heaver than it really is until you get it braced. So try and get it braced when you still think it is on the heavy side. The early draw weight it will have can fool you.So go slow.Good luck and keep us posted. :)
