Stalking in the corn!
« on: November 22, 2009, 12:00:30 am »
Stacey took these pics of me from about eighty yards away down a corn row... The buck was to my immediate right, no buck tag :'( the doe was at three yards when she stood up.. couldn't snake an arrow through the stalks with the selfbow not a good ethical shot but thought my fellow brothers of the bow would like these pics,She is getting pretty good at capturing quick shots.. enjoy...let her know what you all think ... Nice shots!
Man, that's a real bummer that you didn't have a buck tag! He looked mighty tempting!

Nice  pics,
doesn't  look like  you  can  stalk  with  so  much  dried foilage (noisy),  must  make  a  great spot  for  blind  hunting:)

Those are some nice shots! I don't see how either one of you get so close in that crunchy corn field.

In wyoming we have lots of wind, high wind days are perfect for stalking, thay cannot hear you, if you move really slow it works well. I never hunt from blinds, can't stand the fact I cannot see. around me. I have one for duck huntig but usually put the dog in it and sit outside ;D...

She does have talent!  If I can ask- what's her setup?  I'm guessing a dslr- if so what is her favorite lense. I'm looking for a new lense for mine but can't decide.

Eighty yards away?  Man, it looks like she is standing right behind you!
I've tried to hunt the corn fields but in Ohio they plant the rows too close.  It just hasn't worked but your situation appears to be excellent for it.

It is, when the wind is howling, stay low .......move slow... works everytime.. have been within a few yards of several deer but shooting through the stalks can be tricky, often have to just back away and try a new approach. loads of fun though. Hawk
