honey locust?

I was gettin ready to make some kids bows from honey locust and  was wonderin how good it is and if i just remove the bark or use the heartwood thanks.      JAKE

I've used honey locust, and like it.  It tends to fret, and for a heavier bow it wants a really perfect tiller.  But for a lighter weight kids bow you should have no problem.  I just removed the bark, and had a really nice "yew like" sapwood heart wood contrast.  Here's a crappy pic of the bow taken with a phone.

yes heartwood makes real nice bows,, brett landon had one at mojam was butiful  but  make ur limbs  wide 2 in plus  and perfect flat belly  brock
