Bamboo Bow?
« on: November 02, 2009, 02:41:33 pm »
I’m planning on making a bound Bamboo bow, since I can’t find a store that sells strips of Bamboo I will have to buy some poles and cut them into strips. I was just wondering what size of poles I should buy? Is it better to use a younger piece of Bamboo or an older one? Because I can buy poles anywhere from ½” to 5” Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I'd guess the bigger the better, but obviously ones which look to be good quality.
Bigger diameter=flatter & thicker slat with less crown.

I agree, the bigger the better.

Have you considered horizontal pressed bamboo floor?  I have not used it, but have seen some very nice bows made with it.
