When I first started about 20 years ago That is what I was using and it almost broke me from selfbows,I still blame my short draw problem on using it. ;) :) I went to Hickory,Hackberry ,Osage and Ash and got some shooters. Never tried it again but do have some ready to try and after learning a little more about bows and what you can and can't get away with I think my results may be better this time around. :)

Should have good luck with the hackberry,it is one of my best bows,64 inches 13/4 wide to midlimb and 1/2 inch nocks,62# at 26  and it will crank out a 550 gr arrow real well.
Now is the good old days
