Got a question

Do you cap dip cane shafts in clear coat so you have something to glue to,or what are your suggestions,thanks Dave.

I know some on here will sandpaper the area for the feather before gluing but I've never done that but I seem to use a glue that I haven't seen anyone else on here use.

I just scrape the rind on mine and havent had too many difficulties.Duco cement seems to work on cane,but pitch works too.

I do it both ways. The rind will prevent good adhesion so either a light sanding in that area or seal the entire shaft(or just the fletching area) first.

Thanks for the replys,appreciate it,guess Ill lightly sand the feather area and use Duco for glue,unless anybody disagrees,Dave.

I brake the glaze on cane shafts with 220 grit. I then mark the flech position with a pencil line. Next is contact cement down the pencil lines and on the flech vanes. In 10 minutes I assemble the arrow and tie the fleches fore and aft. I like contact cement but tape works also.
