Bow Exploding on the Tree
« on: October 26, 2009, 07:00:40 pm »
So I was taking pictures of this bow and wanted a full draw. No one was home to help me so I took it out to the tree figuring it would be pretty easy to get a picture. I had it at full draw and was having trouble geting the pic how I wanted, maybe if I just leaned back a little more...... :D

I hate it when that happens. It is a cool pic though. My first attempt at a bow, red oak recurve, on the tiller tree in my garage with a drywall ceiling. Pulled to about 22", BOOM, red oak splinters stuck in the ceiling. It sucked, but was cool at the same tiime

I've been left holding nothing more then a handle and jagged remnants of bow limbs more then once. That's a rush! :)

I am incredibly new to building bows, but my first blew up while I had it in full draw (getting ready to shoot). Left about a 2" wide by 6" long bruise on my arm and knocked the heck out of my chin. Glad yours was on the tree. In hand it can HURT :D
