Bear hide quiver?
« on: October 18, 2009, 10:52:51 am »
I have a bear hide that I had tanned years ago, just sitting on the table and thought about making a quiver out of it.  What would be a good design to make.  If anyone has a bear hide quiver, sure would love to see some designes???

I made a coyote quiver not long ago and found Jackcrafty's (Patrick) build along very helpful working with a hide with long hair. Both of our quivers were Plains styles but both were made differently. I found Patrick's techniques very helpful and his build along very informative and use it to produce the quiver I wanted to build. Check it out! I believe it is on page 3 of the How To section. Jackcrafty's Coyote Quiver.
Here is a pic of the one I made...

Bear hide should work great the way I made these wildboar quivers (working on on European badger right now that comes out great and will be posted when finished)
Here's the link, hope that helps!

Here's a few pictures of one I did with a Buffalo hide.

And this one with a bobcat hide.

i made a plains style of a bob cat and they work pretty good but sometimes i like using just a simple fox hide back quiver too. arrows seem to sit better.
