Mystery Wood???

I have found a bunch of trees that I have found that i once believed to be osage orange, but when I cut one down they were white wood in the middle, much like hickory. The limbs have the small thorn-like spikes and the leaves look similar to osage, can anybody help me out?

Thorns = bow wood. I vote make a bow out of it anyway and see how it shoots :).

As for what it really is, pictures would help alot.

Black Locust? Are they tall and straight with thorns at the base of the leaves?

Locust has a compound leaf, not at all like osage. Could be one of the Callery pears like Bradford pear. Bradfords don't have the thorns but some of the others do.

My guess is Prickly ash. Hard to find one with any length or straightness around here. ;)

Im not saying exactly what it is BUt where I live there are what we call a horse chestnut which have a spikey ball with a nut inside a Thorn berry which is probably slang for something Im not sure of each region has its own version I suppose... Always a good thing to post some pics and or look online for a tree identifacation guide for ur area!!!
