New Guy
« on: October 06, 2009, 04:40:39 am »
I'm new to PA, and wanted to say hello.  New to selfbows as well.  This is my first success, a hickory Holmgaard type that is 70" ntn, and 45#@29".  She's finished with iol urethane and beeswax for polish.  The wrap on the grip is buffalo rawhide, natural color.  Hope you like her.  I sure do.  Now to make some arrows ...

Welcome Dogleg,
I also am new to the world of bows. This forum rocks! I can't wait to see a picture of your bow. See you around the discussion "table".

That big tube you see behind me is a full buffalo rawhide.  Went to rendezvous, last weekend, and just couldn't resist.  Anyone else here ever have that kinda fit take them? ;)  It's going to be my quiver, armguard, etc.  Thinking of trying to tan a good chunk of it, if I can figure out how, from the rawhide stage.

Frist off, excellent bow.  Well done.  Second, I can relate to your fits.  I ended up with a bag of buffalo leather scraps like that.    It was a good investment.  Great stuff.
