I don't know about Q.S, R.S, or P.S wood, I just know the grain was straight on the sides and the back of the bow.  I DO look a little tranquil in the pic, I think it is the arrow that makes me so angry.  ;D  Not my usual action shots this time.  Thanks bro!   :)  -josh

rift sawn means the end grain shows it slanting in an angle other than 90 or 45 degrees.

Good for you Josh, I think my Dad tells everyone about my bows, flint knifes, ect. I'll probably do the same with whatever my son develops as a talent, I never made a bow for my Dad, he doesn't really shoot, but maybe a bow would encourage him to start. I'm sure your Dad must be thrilled with his bow, it's memories like this that you remember forever.
