Request for Marc St.Louis
« on: September 07, 2009, 12:40:37 am »
Hello Mr. St.Louis, I was searching for E.R.C war bows and there is one that came up ,posted by you on Aug.29 '07 but the picture has apparently been erased . I wonder if it would be possible (and not too much trouble) for you to repost that picture. I 've been dying to see that bow ,and I would really appreciate it . Thanks , Bob.

Sorry about that Bob.  I just noticed this thread.  The photo hosting site I was using before died on me.  I've updated the pictures in that ERC Warbow thread.

WOW!! Thanks Mark , Well worth the wait. That is an awesome bow, and unbacked ? Would you say E.R.C is ok unbacked as long as you leave some sapwood?

Worked for me Bob.  I don't have that much experience with ERC as it doesn't grow around here but I have heard of some making an all heartwood bow out of it

I was recently in Missouri at my uncles house and the erc there grows very straight and clean for some reason so I harvested a beautiful log . Now that I know I wont have to back it , I'm exited about making a warbow and a longbow from it . If I could bother you with a couple more questions; On warbows do you work them square and then round them?or do you crown them from the start? I just completed an Osage longbow which I found really difficult to work because I crowned it right off. How would you rate the cast of erc? Thanks for your responses Mr. St.Louis I admire your work ,it's a thrill to speak with one of the best bowyers in North America.
