I have a hickory board stave that is naturally deflexed. Do I leave it as and see how things go or do I attempt to straighten to board at some point.

If it is in the handle, I would just flip the tips and turn it into a natural R/D bow. If it is in the limbs, I usually try to take as much as I can out while i temper the belly- but I know it will come back.

If it's a board, turn it over and it's called reflex.

thats what i was thinkng,however that would also depend on what the cut of the board is too

Yea... I thought about flipping it also, but the grain orientation ,I believe, would prevent me from doing this.

Just oil it and put the reflex in it you want. We straighten Hickory all the time with heat. Or flip
if possible.

I only have a "primitive 35mm camera". I will see if I can borrow a digital one. Or I could use this opportunity to learn how to straighten a board.

That would be what I would do.Oil it down,get some type of form or clamp to a table and heat
and move it slowly to what you want.I get them hot enough to touch but but to hot to hold and
that should be about right.Try to keep the heat moving and not to scorch it.
