Ash backed HHB Recurve
« on: August 30, 2009, 12:41:22 pm »
This is a bow I just made for Marius (dustybaer).  It's made from HHB billets backed with a plain sawn White Ash backing.  The deflex in the handle was glued in and the recurves were steam bent.  About half of the reflex was heat treated in with the rest glued in, total reflex before tillering was about 4 1/2".  The bow is tillered to 26" but his draw length is 25", it pulls about 50# @ 25".  I shot the bow several times with a 600 grain arrow at a 25" draw and performance is impressive, I think he will be pleased.  Here's a few pictures

I'd say Marius will be retiring the bow I gave him when he receives this beauty! Very nice!  ;)

Nice bow Marc. I'm sure Marius will love it.
Greg, I doubt that Marius will ever put the bow you gave him aside for any other! ;)

Well I hope he likes it.  He wanted a recurve out of HHB because the wood is not available to him

Well I guess I should put more information on this bow  :)

The bow is 56" N to N and the limbs are a shallow D section 1 1/4" wide tapering to 3/8" nocks

Looks like a great bow. Lots of time in that one I'm sure. How long is it? Looks like a great design for a shorty.
