My First Bow

Hi Guys. I've been over on PaleoPlanet for about a month now but I just got my profile up here. Anyway here's some pics of my first bow. It's a replica Cherokee bow, 67.75 in. NTN. It pulls about 55# @ 28in.






I'm sure some of you have already seen it on PaleoPlanet.  Tell me what you think.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. Yes it is hickory. The handle area is wrapped in what I think might be buckskin. It's from a leather chamois I got at Wal-Mart. The string is B-50 for now, but I am planning to make a natural string soon.

That is a fantastic first bow! I just can't get over how much I love that style tiller. Not to take anything away but with a little less bend in the handle it may take away some hand shock if there is any. Anyways great bow, keep it up!

Thanks Ryoon. It really doesn't have much hand shock, but my hand does go numb after about twenty shots because of the way i have to hold it with my wrist bent back. Not much I can do about that though. I like your little asiatic bow that you posted recently. It really is a good looking bow. I'm thinking of trying to make one like it next time I get some hickory.

Nice looking bow, especially for your first. I like that style of bow, simple but surprisingly efficient. Looks like the moisture content may have been still a little high in your stave when you tillered it. Great job!
