Red oak board bow?

Have any of you made a bow from the red oak boards they sell at lowes? I read in one volume of the bowmans bible that board bows can be just as good as a bow from a stave. I was just wondering because im having trouble finding good quality bow wood.

my first bow was a board bow....it turned out alright but my tiller was off and the grain I wasn't the best on it...It's still working just fine as a bowfishing bow but it has taken a lot of set...you should be just fine as long as you find one with good grain...I would back it too

Sure. I've lost counts of the no. I've bows I've made from boards. Look for straight grained stock. There's info on my site but it is "Temporarily Unavailable".  I think there is a Comcast server down. I reported it. Jawge

could i back it with sinew? would that decrease the performance of the bow?
