Some good pointers there - I would not have thought the string twist would have mattered... Real glad you guys mentioned that!
Any thoughts on WHERE to position the silencer? I made a 'puff' silencer (a tangle of yarn) for my bow... I was surprised to find the amount of silencing changed, depending on where I moved the puffs on the string. Anywhere with 6" of the nock point got in the way, and had minimal effect. To close to the tips, and there was little effect, as well...
That begs the question - is it the weight of the silencers that deadens the sound? Or the fur hitting the bow that dampens the vibrations? I thought it was the later of the two, but moving them around seems to indicate it has more to do with the weight of the puffs, and how much the string is vibrating where you position them...
