Beaver Hunt this weekend
« on: August 07, 2009, 01:02:56 am »
I'm going to take my Hickory Flatbow that I just finished, and go bust some beavers that a friend asked me to clean out of her stream. I'll try to post pics next week. This should be fun.....

Man wish i was with ya. Beaver hunting on a river with a canoe is a favorite of mine. Great eating also, especially over a fire.  Good luck

Be sure and save the tails. They make great bow grips.

Gigmaster if you were closer I would like to get the meat off you for baiting bear. It's the best candy for a bear.

Go to the Bow of the Month, and look at my Dogwood bow for January... it has a beaver tail handle on it. :)

I thought seriously about shooting one with a fish arrow a couple months ago, but Chris wouldn't agree to take it off the arrow for me..;D

Just had to comment on using the beaver as a bear bait.  We used to trap black bears for the gov't (catch/transport/release).

The best bait was a beaver, tied up in a garbage bag and left in there for a good week or two or more....nothing within 10 miles could avoid that smell....worked like a charm.

Just don't get any juice on your boots....never really comes clean.
