Jane's back
« on: August 01, 2009, 01:15:25 pm »
I did this bow last year, it was not only my first successful board bow but also my first successful build along. The handle was starting to creak though, so I retired it until I knew how to fix it. So, I finally had the know-how to do it and refinished it to get a little money to help pay for new glasses. I'm sending it down to my friend Chad Bower.

It's a red oak board, still 2" wide, with wlanut overlays on pin nocks and a small leather shelf. The dished handle was narrowed down to 3/4" and the bow was retillered to pull 50# at 28" (was 67# at 27"). I did a little drawing on the back to spruce it up, I like how it looks. It's 66" and quite snappy. I still need to serve the darcon string, but other than that it's fine.

There's a few irregularities on the belly caused by a lack or rasping, and the full draw picture looks terrible because I tilted the bow, but I'm glad it's back and shooting (and pretty) again :).

Very slim grip, pretty, but, yes that lower limb could do to loose a few ounces...
