sinew backing

I am making my first osage bow and would like to sinew back it.  I was wondering how many whitetail leg tendons it usually takes?  It will 60"ttt and 1 3/4 at the fades. any advice would be appreciated.

10-12 legs about 3 deer.

I've gotten away with as few as six endons before, giving it a nice thin backing.

can you sand the sinew backing to smooth it out or will that defeat the purpose?

Yes you can Luke,just sand in one direction and light.By the way Jesse was talking about 3 layers of sinew with the 10 or 12 tendons. :) I as him about that this weekend after I read it.I knew that was way to many for 1. :)
